Forte dei Marmi, where striped beach umbrellas define the landscape and the sea stretches out under a golden light that’s impossible to forget.  I remember an afternoon sitting beneath a turquoise and white umbrella, with a pistachio gelato in hand, and the sound of the waves in the background—interrupted only by the gentle clinking of aperitivo glasses.  That simple scene —the fine sand brushing against my feet, a salty breeze softly swaying the striped fabric, and the sun setting over the wooden cabanas— etched itself into my memory with a palette of blues, yellows, and pinks.
